Mankind has been fascinated by space ever since the first steps we took and gazed up in the heavens.
We thought it was the domain of the gods, unexplainable and unreachable, before years of progress put us on the Moon, and even now, planned missions on Mars.
For a lot of people, space continues to be a fascination, and the idea of exploring its vast places with no restrictions will without a doubt fill people with a sense of excitement.
And while that is still ways away, Starquest does offer you a similar feeling in searching the outer space for that one jackpot you can haul home to live like a King. The newest release from BigTime Gaming is a 6-reel slot with whopping 117,649 ways to win. Interested? Read on!
If the name BigTime Gaming is familiar, it should – it’s been around for a while, and is formed of well-known veterans in the industry who lead the team effort.
Nik Robinson, the founder of New Tech Media which later merged with Orbis to become OpenBet, Huw McIntosh who brings 10 years of experience to the mix working at New Tech and OpenBet, and Ian Schmidt, who became part of the team after working for several titles for Rock Star Games.
The team continues to deliver somewhat unusual slots, using it’s patented Megaways system for six-reel slots, allowing players to win in 117,649 ways on the board. With BigTime’s growing influence, we certainly hope they continue their high quality work.
How to Play
Before you begin spinning, the slot offers you the option to adjust how much per spin you want to bet. The game is flexible in that regard, offering you to bet as little as $1 all the way up to $2500 in one spin.
To win, you need to line up consecutive symbols on the board, regardless of their height. The game counts both wins from left to right and right to left.
The icons for the game aren’t that varied. You have the standard symbol set which includes 9, 10, J, Q, K and A. Then you have a green, blue and red jewel that have a slight shape variation for higher paying icons, and the Starquest logo icon which carries the highest payout.
The slot comes equipped an AutoPlay feature. Selecting it, you’re allowed to modify the number of spins, and to set a loss limit or a win limit. Once you set at least one of these, the game will allow you to activate AutoPlay.
With AutoPlay is active, the Play button will turn into a Stop button, allowing to you stop the autospin at any given time.
The game offers only one Special feature, which is the Full Reel Wild. The Full Reel Wild replaces an entire reel with the image of a woman in a retro-looking space outfit, and substitutes any icon on that reel while it lasts. They can only appear on reels two to five, and start at 1x multiplier.
If you win more than one Wild, the first Wild will go up in value by 1, so your x1 Wild will turn into a x2 Wild. And to make things even better, each Full Reel Wild also triggers a respin, which also increases it’s value.
While the respin is happening, the Wilds stay in place, allowing you to net a win and increase your multiplier exponentially.
With a maximum stake of $2500 and a theoretical RTP of 96.22%, the game can offer big wins if you get really lucky. The highest paying icon is the Starquest symbol, offering a x15 multiplier, and with Full Reel Wilds, you can add on a x19 multiplier on that, as well.
To make things even better, the sheer amount of winning ways thanks to the Megaways system means that a maximum win will leave you with your pockets much heavier than what you came in with.
BigTime Gaming continues to deliver unique, different type slots. While it’s not a completely unique theme, we’re always happy to see more space-themed slots. The icons were somewhat uninspired, and a lack of special features save for one did not do the game a favour.
The defining feature is definitely the Megaways system, which allows 117,649 ways to win, and while that sounds good on paper, it obviously puts down some limits on the game in order to make it fit the Megaways system.
If you’re looking for something more exciting, there are better slots around, but if you’re just want to spin the reels and possibly earn yourself enough cash to buy a spaceship, Starquest may be the slot for you.
