Ocean and Poseidon themed slot machines are not new to the slot industry, but that’s what IGT chose for this title anyway. They are giving us a game which takes some of its inspiration from Ancient Greece and one of its gods, but other parts are just ocean themed. You see the ocean and some of its beautiful views in the background, while on the reels there is a mix, of things like mermaids or Poseidon, harps or jewels, shells and dolphins.
The quality of the design is quite good, adequate for the task and the times anyway. It’s by no means the best looking slot machine around, but it’s going to be easy to play anyway. They did select Royals for the lower paying icons, but that much was to be expected.
The game you’re playing here comes via IGT, one of the biggest developers in the world, something that you can especially say about them since they power a lot of regular casinos with their machines, not just online gaming sites.
You might find games from them under their own name, under the Spielo brand, or under some other name of a company that they acquired. Generally, what I expect to find in a slot from IGT is a good quality in the feature section, plenty of innovation being done there. I’m almost never truly impressed with the design of their games.
How To Play It
The regular bets of the game will range between $0.40 and $800, using line bets between $0.01 and $20. You will be able to select extra bets as well, which will increase the number of wilds used each round. The increase will be to 65 coins or to 90 coins, in which case the maximum bet value jumps to $1,300 or $1,800, respectively.
It’s not a standard game, and it offers a total of 25 positions for symbols, each of the 5 reels getting 5 icons. The 40 lines are a bit more spread out than it seems at first. You will notice regular and colossal symbols alike on those reels.
The biggest feature that the game seems to offer is that Colossal Wild. Using the image of Poseidon, it’s going to take over two entire reels when it shows up. You can get the wild either on the reels 2&3, or on 4&5. You will have 20 of these wilds present on the reels during normal spins, but with extra bets in place you can increase the number to 40 or even 60 wilds. You would have to more than double your bet though, to get to that kind of number.
Among the regular features of the game, you should count the free spins, the ones that you trigger by landing a scatter on reel 1, plus a Colossal Wild anywhere else on the latter reels. The combination will trigger 8 free spins for you.
The Mermaid symbol is responsible for the biggest payout of the game. It’s a prize of 250 coins, which should bring you a reward of up to $5,000. You can also add a couple of progressive jackpots to the list.
King of Atlantis has some unique advantages that might make it a popular choice for some players, but it also has only average looking graphics. I wouldn’t call that a downside, it’s just that some areas are much better than others.
