Magic Jester is a 5 reel 10 payline video slot by Novomatic that revolves around the character of a medieval Jester who acts as game’s Wild.
The hint of the medieval court is given through the adorned reels and stylised letters, but apart from that there is nothing much to evoke these old times.
The rest comes down to classic icons of fruits and letters.
Feature wise the slot comes with some surprises in the shape of Magic Reels that generously appear on each spin and give you the opportunity to see even fifteen matching symbols on the reels.
With this new feature you can hope for a top prize of 800,000 coins.
What We Love
Truth to be told, we were not thrilled at the first sight of Magic Jester. The quality of the graphics is typical of Novomatic – nothing spectacular but you cannot say that it is bad. Only this time their creative team didn’t exactly give their best, as the central figure, the Jester, is the one that carries the whole theme.
Nevertheless, this is the part where we talk about the good things. The idea to introduce the possibility to form a combo of even fifteen matching symbols was amazing. The way this slot does it is through Magic Reel feature.
Actually, Magic Reels appear during every spin and you will recognise them by the shimmering purple veil covering the reel in question.
Apart from new colour the Magic Reel will reveal a slightly different form of symbols, meaning that instead of one you will see two or three symbols in a single tile and all of them will count to a combo of up to 15 matching symbols.
This could do wonders to your winning prospects as it dramatically increases the number of winning combinations and thus the amount of your payouts.
Another thing that we love in this slot is Novomatic’s Gamble feature, which is definitely a useful addition to a somewhat empty slot. You can test your luck and go for double or nothing after any win.
What We Do Not Like
It is clear by now that this is not one of our favourite slots for many reasons. One of them is definitely the lack of an additional profitable feature. As lucrative as Magic Reels sound, they turn out to be different in practice.
Basically, you don’t get any help from them, since they offer only more symbols that rarely get over 5-of-a-kind.
In our opinion, this feature would have made sense with Stacked Wilds or multipliers, while no one would have complained if we had a chance for a couple of Free Spins.
Apart from being dull, the feature is not paying either. It doesn’t get much worse than that.
Magic Jester is not all bad. The audio-visual impression is acceptable, at least for the less-demanding players, while in theory you stand to win some hefty amounts. Even if you don’t hit that top prize of 80x your stake, this medium variance slot will reward smaller winnings regularly.
It is simply hard to recommend this outdated looking video slot with so many spectacular and rewarding slots out there. We regret to say that Magic Jester has very little to offer.
